The two ships collided in thick fog off the southern coast of Ireland in May 1870, with the loss of the ‘America’.
this volume contains witnesses’ evidence, various documents including extracts from the log of the ‘Marpesia’, and the judge’s verdict which was that the master of the ‘Marpesia’ was at fault.
