London, printed for G.G.J. & J. Robinson, 1791.
1st edition. 4to. ppviii 440. large folding map with old tape repairs and 12 (of 23 engraved plates).
in a contemporary full calf binding, rather rubbed. upper hinge very weak but just holding. a little browning and marking, but generally internally clean
a very good detailed late 18th century tour, primarily in Scotland, with introductory chapter covering from Oxford to the Scottish Border, and brief notes on the concluding leg to York. the ‘oeconomical’ part of the narrative includes useful information on the fishing industry. a cheap copy of this scarce tour as it lacks 11 plates.
