A Tour in Sutherlandshire, with extracts from the field-books of a sportsman and naturalist

by Charles St.John.

London, John Murray, 1849.

2 volumes. 1st edition. ppxiv 296, viii 288. illustrated with ten woodcut plates (tissue guards missing from frontispieces). January 1849 publisher’s catalogue bound in at end of volume 2.

overall good tidy set in the original green cloth with gilt falcon decoration to front board, lightly faded to the spines, with some wear to top and foot. However there is some scattered foxing, quite heavy on the preliminary pages, and there is a short closed tear in the title-page to volume 2.  armorial book-plate to front paste-downs.
